Our client, a company whose mission is to manage, operate, and maintain various transportation infrastructures, with activities spanning engineering, construction, and maintenance operations, is currently seeking a Senior Project Coordinator to continue improving the quality and efficiency of its services.
Nature of position
Reporting to the Project Director, you will ensure the smooth execution of the projects under your responsibility. You will actively participate in the development and implementation of project management, adhering to the philosophy of the Project Management Institute (PMI). You will produce, receive, and analyze reports and recommend measures to be adopted by the Project Director and/or the project team. In close collaboration with the team, including PCOs, you will contribute to project planning, budget control, cost management, and scheduling. Additionally, you will act as a mentor and actively participate in coaching staff members within project teams.In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Define, analyze, and monitor project needs to ensure compliance with its scope (all planned work) ;
- Prepare project charters and plans with the Project Director, integrating various project management knowledge areas ;
- Identify internal and external stakeholders for each project and ensure activity coordination with them ;
- Contribute to handover meetings from pre-project to project phase and mitigate potential risks ;
- In close collaboration with discipline leads and the PCO, plan and lead SAP ByDesign project integration meetings and monthly report reviews ;
- Manage project change requests;
- Oversee project scheduling using MS Project ;
- Participate in variance analysis for accrued costs ;
- Analyze progress reports from discipline leads, follow up with the PCO, and communicate information to the Project Director ;
- Assess and quantify project risks and present the analysis to the Project Director ;
- Escalate issues to the Project Director when necessary and ensure contingency plans are implemented and accurately reflected in the budget ;
- Participate in project completion meetings to ensure proper project closure and lessons learned documentation ;
- Recommend solutions to the Project Director for issues arising outside project parameters ;
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Project Director, discipline leads, and PCOs ;
- Mentor project team members by sharing expertise in project management ;
- Provide professional leadership on complex projects with significant impacts on the organization ;
- Recommend priority action plans for ongoing and upcoming projects ;
- Act as a key advisor to colleagues from various departments to enhance project management processes ;
- Recommend improvements to project management tools and initiate, support, and promote new approaches to increase organizational efficiency, resolve critical issues, or generate opportunities ;
- Participate in various working committees ;
- Perform any other related tasks or responsibilities.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil engineering is an asset) ;
- Minimum of 12 years of experience, including 2 years in managing major projects ;
- Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec ;
- Relevant experience in managing multidisciplinary teams or team leadership ;
- Proficient in cost management and planning ;
- Strong writing skills and the ability to understand and interpret plans, specifications, and technical drawings ;
- Holder of the ASP Construction site card ;
- Valid class 5 driver’s license ;
- Practical knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, and MS Project, as well as good knowledge of SAP ByDesign ;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages (French and English) ;
- Master's degree in project management (asset) ;
- PMP certification (asset) ;
- Previous experience in a similar role in a government or para-government organization (asset) ;
- Experience with engineering consulting firms and/or contractors in the road infrastructure sector (asset).
