Our client, a manufacturing company positioned as a global leader in the production of technological materials and specialized chemicals, is currently seeking a Production Manager for its plant in the Montreal area.
Nature of position
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead the production team and efficiently manage human, material, and financial resources to meet objectives in terms of production volumes, pace, and quality while minimizing direct operating costs, maximizing productivity, pursuing continuous improvement, and adhering to health, safety, hygiene, and environmental protection standards. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Establishing production targets with the plant planner and achieving them ;
- Supervising production and maintenance supervisors, advising them, and helping solve technical and management issues ;
- Assigning tasks to the production and maintenance teams and setting short- and medium-term priorities ;
- Optimizing work in progress (WIP) and inventory levels ;
- Ensuring sufficient supplies and raw materials for smooth production operations ;
- Collaborating with and supporting the initiatives of the HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Manager ;
- Promoting HSE and maintaining a safe work environment ;
- Implementing health and safety plans ;
- Defining, improving, and auditing work methods to comply with HSE standards ;
- Ensuring production equipment is in good working order and that tools and equipment meet the company’s mission ;
- Defining, improving, and controlling work methods to meet quality standards ;
- Applying work procedures, instructions, and guidelines ;
- Ensuring product quality (production standards, technical specifications, customer requirements) ;
- Participating in the implementation and maintenance of ISO certifications and the site's quality management system (QMS) ;
- Driving continuous improvement in production sectors in collaboration with production supervisors and process scientists ;
- Enforcing company policies on human resources, including disciplinary measures and performance evaluations ;
- Recommending actions to improve the work climate and production quality ;
- Assisting in hiring service staff ;
- Communicating management guidelines and directions to department members ;
- Planning employee training ;
- Performing any other tasks consistent with your role.
Required qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Metallurgical, Operations and Logistics, etc.), Business Administration, or other relevant fields ;
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in an industrial environment ;
- Experience in management within the manufacturing sector ;
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations ;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) ;
- Solid understanding of continuous improvement concepts ;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills .
