Building Automation Estimator

Our client, a company specializing in the design, installation, and commissioning of building control systems (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), stands out for its expertise in critical environments such as data centers, greenhouses, laboratories, and clean rooms. As part of its operational expansion, our client is currently seeking an Estimator to join their team and contribute to exciting and high-impact projects.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the business development manager you will be responsible for estimating the costs of each project, ensuring the company's accuracy and competitiveness, while contributing to its business development efforts. In this capacity, you will:

  • Coordinate the collection and delivery of quotes, as well as the distribution of all relevant notices and documents ;
  • Analyze and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control system drawings to assess equipment needs and estimate design, installation, and commissioning timelines ;
  • Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and engineers to clarify project specifications and gather essential information ;
  • Review equipment proposals and documents provided by subcontractors and suppliers ;
  • Prepare comprehensive, accurate, and high-quality cost estimates for building control system installations ;
  • Work with the engineering team to support system design ;
  • Visit project sites as needed for assessments and consultations ;
  • Contribute to the creation of targeted prospecting strategies ;
  • Generate leads through emails, phone calls, social media, and networking ;
  • Assess potential client needs to determine suitability ;
  • Monitor sales opportunities and ensure timely follow-ups with prospects ;
  • Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in building control systems and related technologies ;
  • Perform any other related tasks in line with your responsibilities.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, DEC in Building Mechanics, Electrical Engineering, or any relevant training ;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience estimating building control system projects ;
  • Deep understanding of building control systems, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems ;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to foster relationships, engage prospects, and present compelling arguments ;
  • Proficiency in estimation software and familiarity with CRM tools ;
  • Strong business development drive, combined with a positive attitude and resilience to overcome rejection while maintaining high motivation levels ;
  • Proficiency in French, both written and spoken, along with a good command of English (a significant asset for communicating with clients and suppliers).
