Underground Infrastructure Manager

Our client, a well-established company in Quebec specializing in the energy sector, is currently seeking an Underground Infrastructure Manager.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will be responsible for the performance and integrity of the underground infrastructures operated by the company. You will play a key role in managing inspection, maintenance, supervision, and intervention work on infrastructures and equipment. Your mission will also include ensuring compliance with regulatory and normative standards related to the installations. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Supervise equipment inspections: Analyze results, identify issues, and produce reports to improve safety and performance.
  • Plan, supervise, and evaluate maintenance, inspection, and repair work: Ensure the safety of operations and compliance with quality standards for equipment and pipelines.
  • Assess equipment performance: Recommend actions to optimize operation and safety.
  • Update technical databases and diagrams: Ensure that any modifications made during the work are accurately reflected.
  • Design, supervise, and analyze integrity tests: Oversee testing of sealing components, annular pressures, and gas analyses to ensure compliance and reliability of the infrastructure.
  • Monitor regulatory, normative, and industry changes: Ensure that installations remain compliant and competitive.
  • Provide technical support for development projects: Participate in evaluations, work supervision, and report reviews.
  • Initiate and evaluate calls for tenders: Oversee equipment-related work and manage relationships with contractors and subcontractors.
  • Conduct and update pipeline flow modeling: Support strategic decision-making with accurate data.
  • Review and adjust operational guidelines: Ensure safety, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Supervise surface surveys, inspections, and detections: Conduct periodic or one-time checks to maintain the integrity of wells and infrastructures.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with safety measures: Monitor contractor activities and intervene in case of non-compliance.
  • Prepare and submit reports to government authorities: Ensure timely and accurate regulatory submissions.
  • Handle administrative procedures and regulatory follow-ups: Produce the reports required to obtain government authorizations for work on equipment and infrastructure.
  • Issue purchase requisitions and requests for proposals: Oversee procurement processes for projects under your supervision, ensuring quality and deadlines are met.
  • Perform any other related tasks: Carry out additional duties that align with the scope of your role.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other relevant engineering field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) – an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize information from new fields.
  • Expertise in corrosion – considered an asset.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams (technicians, operators, subcontractors).
  • Functional bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written.
