Director, Structural Engineering

Our client, a multinational professional services firm operating in 35 countries, provides design, planning, and project management services to a diverse clientele. As an organization committed to sustainability, they bring together a global collective of designers, consultants, and experts. Currently, our client is seeking a Director for their Structural Engineering department.

Nature of position

As Director, you will play a pivotal role in managing and developing iconic projects in Quebec. You will lead diverse initiatives and contribute to socially meaningful and impactful projects. Your expertise will be instrumental in project planning and delivery, resource allocation, staff development and mentoring, and driving the company’s growth. In this capacity, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement business development strategies to secure new mandates and diversify service offerings for clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Monitor project progress, key milestones, and deliverables to identify and address issues or risks while ensuring alignment with client objectives.
  • Foster professional development among team members through training, mentoring, and coaching, while promoting technical excellence and innovation.
  • Implement financial controls and risk management practices to mitigate financial uncertainties associated with projects.
  • Identify and integrate best practices into projects to maintain high standards of quality and sustainability.
  • Actively support the growth of the Montreal office by identifying strategic opportunities to enhance our structural engineering expertise in Quebec.
  • Perform any other related duties associated with your responsibilities.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary projects.
  • Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Demonstrated expertise in securing large-scale contracts.
  • Proficiency in French and English (English proficiency is preferred for this position to facilitate effective communication with clients and partners).

Salary and condition
