Building Mechanical Engineer (Innovative Data Centers)

Our client, a company specializing in the development and operation of decentralized data centers, supports businesses looking to optimize their energy, economic, and environmental impact. By providing a turnkey solution, the organization transforms heating needs into computational opportunities, ingeniously combining these two areas to generate sustainable value. They are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the expansion of their operations.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for the design and delivery management of assigned projects. In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, estimate, and develop mechanical systems for heat recovery projects, ensuring compliance with local standards and regulations (HVAC, plumbing, energy management, etc.);
  • Prepare plans, technical specifications, and required documentation at each stage of the project;
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (electrical, structural, architecture) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems within projects;
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from design to final delivery, adhering to established timelines and budgets;
  • Organize follow-up meetings with stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, and produce progress reports for regular updates;
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and resources to achieve financial and operational goals;
  • Supervise implementation, conduct on-site inspections, and validate compliance of installations;
  • Serve as a technical reference for the installation team and external stakeholders and actively participate in coordination meetings and technical problem-solving with sales and product teams;
  • Perform any other related tasks aligned with your responsibilities.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Engineering;
  • At least five (5) years of experience in building mechanical design and project management;
  • Member in good standing of the Quebec Order of Engineers or eligible for membership;
  • Excellent knowledge of local construction standards and codes (CSA, ASHRAE, LEED, etc.);
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar);
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong project management skills (proficiency in Agile methods is a plus);
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Proficiency in French, both spoken and written, as well as a good command of English (an important asset for client interactions).
