Manufacturing Project Engineer

Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in Quebec for over 70 years, stands out for its expertise in managing its entire production chain, from raw materials to finished products. Thanks to this vertical integration, the company ensures a stable supply of high-quality products, enabling the production of a wide range of specialized items. Currently, they are seeking a Manufacturing Project Engineer.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Technical and Quality Director, your primary responsibility will be to lead the execution of projects under your supervision in accordance with stakeholder requirements and expectations, with the goal of improving production efficiency and reducing manufacturing costs. Additionally, you will work closely with various departments within the company to ensure the successful completion of these projects. As such, you will be responsible for:

  • Actively contribute to process analysis and the identification of operational needs;
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of projects, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met;
  • Ensure rigorous budget management by participating in the estimation and monitoring of project-related costs;
  • Conduct regular follow-ups and present detailed reports on action plans and project progress;
  • Lead the execution of projects under your responsibility, ensuring compliance with stakeholder requirements and expectations;
  • Prepare and provide the necessary documentation to justify incurred costs;
  • Negotiate with product and service suppliers to ensure their contribution to the project;
  • Coordinate the necessary work with suppliers and operational staff to ensure smooth execution;
  • Define operational procedures and training needs for equipment commissioning;
  • Ensure the safety of on-site suppliers by strictly enforcing health and safety procedures;
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other relevant engineering training;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, including 3 years in project management;
  • Active member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset;
  • Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodologies is an asset;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Strong command of both French and English, both spoken and written;
  • Excellent skills in analysis, negotiation, conflict resolution, and a high level of autonomy.
