Manufacturing Engineer

Our client, a company specialized in the design and manufacturing of aerospace and industrial tooling solutions (molds, jigs, lifting tools, assembly tooling, etc.) for a wide range of industries, is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of company management, you will be responsible for designing molds, jigs, tooling, and various prototypes, while developing manufacturing processes, material lists, and production plans. You will also be in charge of projects aimed at improving production processes and enhancing the company’s expertise in engineering principles. In this role, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Work on a variety of design and manufacturing projects;
  • Independently manage priorities and adjust planning according to changing requirements;
  • Provide technical advice on questions and requests related to manufacturing engineering;
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize designs and methods;
  • Identify and resolve issues related to existing designs, then propose effective improvements to manufacturing processes;
  • Work closely with shop floor teams to ensure that designs meet quality and safety standards while selecting optimal manufacturing methods;
  • Design molds, jigs, tooling, and prototypes, while developing manufacturing processes, material lists, and plans tailored to production needs;
  • Lead projects aimed at improving production processes;
  • Contribute to improving health and safety practices by participating in relevant files;
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team of project managers, designers, account managers, and machinists to achieve design and production goals;
  • Perform any other related tasks associated with the position.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or in the process of becoming one (CPI);
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings;
  • Experience in planning manufacturing steps;
  • Proficiency in 3D parametric design software, such as SolidWorks and Catia V5;
  • Experience in metrology or geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) — an asset;
  • Creativity and excellent spatial awareness;
  • Versatility and willingness to work on various manufacturing processes.
