Quality Technician

Our client, a well-established manufacturing company in Quebec, specializing in the development and production of products for the construction sector, is currently seeking a Quality Technician.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Director of Industrial Engineering and Quality, your role will be to ensure the quality of raw materials, products in process, and finished products. You will be a key resource in supporting the production team with training, documenting requirements, and problem-solving. Additionally, you will act as a technical reference for the R&D team while actively contributing to promoting a culture of quality within the company. As such, your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspect raw materials upon receipt.
  • Handle non-conformities caused by suppliers in collaboration with the buyer.
  • Document and analyze supplier non-conformity statistics and implement corrective actions.
  • Document the required specifications from suppliers and make them available on drawings when necessary.
  • Ensure that quality controls are respected by suppliers and analyze their control plans during non-conformity investigations.
  • Ensure that the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle is respected in the plant and that parts impacted by change notices are replaced.
  • Conduct visits and audits at supplier locations.
  • Inspect in-process and finished products.
  • Support production in training and handling non-conformities.
  • Document control points and quality criteria to be respected by the production team and ensure their compliance.
  • Resolve problems not addressed by the production team and involve other departments as needed.
  • Document and analyze internal non-conformity statistics and implement corrective actions.
  • Support the R&D team in product development and validation.
  • Participate in the implementation and compliance with quality standards and objectives.
  • Ensure the calibration of measuring and testing instruments.
  • Perform any other tasks consistent with your role.

Required qualification

  • DEC, AEC, or DEP in mechanical or industrial engineering, or relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in quality within a manufacturing environment or other relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of metrology.
  • Experience with AutoCAD (an asset).
  • Proficiency in English (an asset).
  • Proficiency in Spanish (an asset).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
