Our client, a leader in the construction industry, specializing in civil engineering, infrastructure, and municipal services, and distinguished by its expertise and commitment to the environment, is currently seeking an Environmental Manager for a major project valued at over 2 billion dollars.
Nature of position
Reporting to the Environmental Director, you will be responsible for various environmental management mandates in collaboration with the project management department. You will be guided by the design-build-finance contract, applicable laws and regulations, as well as ISO and Envision standards. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Participate in cost control, scheduling, and scope management of environmental deliverables;
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors and suppliers;
- Contribute to the management and coordination of the process for obtaining necessary permits;
- Participate in the management and coordination for maintaining ISO 14001 certification;
- Identify opportunities for improving the environmental management system;
- Lead and attend meetings with project stakeholders;
- Ensure environmental management compliance with the project's specific obligations;
- Contribute to the management and coordination required for obtaining the project's Envision Platinum certification;
- Prepare detailed reports on the progress of environmental work and submit them to management;
- Supervise the implementation of best environmental practices on-site in collaboration with construction teams;
- Assess the environmental impact of projects and propose corrective measures if necessary;
- Perform any other tasks consistent with your role.
Required qualification
- University or college degree in a relevant field;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management within the construction industry;
- Good knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to on-site environmental management;
- Familiarity with CEAEQ specifications;
- Valid ASP Construction card;
- Possession of a valid driver's license;
- Proficiency in French, both spoken and written, along with functional English;
- Certification from the Quebec Association of Environmental Auditing (AQVE) (an asset);
- Relevant experience in major civil construction projects with environmental challenges (a significant asset);
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, and a willingness to learn.
