Renewable Energy Liaison Officer

Our client, an organization representing municipalities of all sizes and regions of Quebec, works daily to represent the interests of its members to governments. In addition, it offers an increasing array of services and commercial privileges and ensures that its members are the best informed in the municipal world through its publications, activities, and training. They are currently seeking a Renewable Energy Liaison Officer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the management, you will ensure the coordination of strategic support mandates for Regional County Municipalities (MRCs) and municipalities in establishing governance that enables community participation in renewable energy production projects within their territories. You will consider local and regional specificities to adapt service offerings and will be responsible for ensuring the proper execution of mandates with all involved parties. In this role, you will:

  • Take into account the needs of the MRCs and municipalities to draft service proposals that meet their needs;
  • Build close relationships with partners and service providers and ensure the quality of their work;
  • Coordinate the various partners and service providers so they can make recommendations on project governance, considering local and regional specifics;
  • Plan all meetings with municipal organizations required for the mandates (e.g., start-up, weekly follow-ups);
  • Meet deadlines and ensure that all parties are mobilized at the right time;
  • Inform and support municipalities regarding available grant programs, when applicable;
  • Establish cross-departmental links within the UMQ to promote the development of renewable energy in the municipal sector;
  • Organize training and information sessions with experts;
  • Contribute to the content writing for the website, the URBA magazine, and other publications;
  • Oversee the development of guides and tools relevant to the MRCs and municipalities for renewable energy production;
  • Ensure strategic monitoring;
  • Perform any other tasks compatible with your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in energy, environment, administration, social sciences, or a related field;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the municipal sector, energy sector, or a related field;
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office 365;
  • Project coordination skills;
  • Excellent command of French (spoken and written);
  • A collaborative approach and ease in developing and maintaining good relationships with colleagues, MRC and municipal officials, and external partners;
  • Political sensitivity and demonstrated autonomy;
  • High curiosity and intellectual rigor.
