You are called for an interview for a job that interests you the most and you seek to put the odds in your favor in order to perform well knowing that it is not always the best candidate who gets the job, but the one who was best prepared and who performed best in interviews.
Here are 6 points that will allow you to have a good preparation for your interview.
1. Get informed
You owe it to yourself to get your hands on as much information as possible about the position you want as well as the company you want to work for.
If you are not familiar with it, take the time to take a look at all of its products and services and its operations (number of employees, different geographic locations, customers, etc.) .
2. Make a good first impression
The informed candidate will have already chosen their outfit the day before the interview. He must be dressed in a clean and consistent manner with the position concerned. In other words, do not land in a three-piece suit if you are applying for a position as a mechanic.
Additionally, pay close attention to your overall appearance. Brush hair and a 4 day beard may not be recommended for a communications manager position, but may be fine for another job.
3. Late you will not be
It is imperative that you do not show up late for the interview. Go ahead and give yourself leeway in case of the unexpected by planning your route, especially for parking lots or the metro station. Delay, past a certain point, disqualifies you instantly from the process.
4. Master your CV
You must be able to clearly explain your career path and respond quickly to all questions regarding your CV. After all, your CV is your roadmap and if you are hesitant about questions regarding its content, it will make your interviewer look bad.
5. Prepare answers for the most frequently asked questions
It is impossible to predict with precision all the questions that will be asked of you during the interview. However, there are a few classic questions that you will almost certainly be asked in a job interview.
You can therefore prepare yourself to adequately answer questions such as:
- Why would you be the candidate we should hire for this job?
- Why do you want to work here?
- What interests you in the job in question?
- What are your salary expectations?
6. Show yourself genuinely interested in the position and the company
It is always a good idea to prepare a few questions that you can ask when the time comes. Remember, however, that it is you who are being interviewed and not the other way around. The goal here is not to take control of the interview, but rather to learn more about the job and the company.
