4types of job seekers only one two gets hired

Have you sent your application to several companies and haven't heard back? Finding a job can be more complicated for some people. However, do you know the reasons why you are not called back?

We share with you an article written by Russ Finkelstein, Founder and CEO of ClearlyNext, who shares what he learned after leading hundreds of hiring processes.

Mr. Finkelstein reports that there are 4 types of job seeker profiles and that applicants that fall into the fourth profile are more likely to be hired.

What type of applicants are you? With the criteria below, you will be able to determine whether you should apply on the job posting or if you should just skip your turn in order to avoid wasting your time. Otherwise, see how to adjust your application to be the candidate sought by the employer.

Go for it! Ask yourself frankly, what type are you?

1. You want a job

He is clearly looking for a job. On the other hand, this type of jobseeker often comes across as a worker who is unclear if he has the appropriate skills to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. He applied for the job, but doesn't seem to share the passion for the job. Definitely, this applicant will not be called for an interview.

2. You want a job in a particular role or field

The latter's cover letter shows that he is looking for a specific job, but nothing more. In this category, we generally find people who aspire to be hired in this capacity, without necessarily having the concrete experience to meet the needs of the position. Compared to the first category of applicants, these show enthusiasm, however, the lack of qualifications and experience mean that they will not be called for an interview.

3. You want this job

At first glance, this applicant’s application looks very interesting. In his cover letter, he explains why the position to be filled both interests and challenges him and does not emphasize only the interest of the field of employment. However, he does not sufficiently demonstrate how he would be the ideal candidate or does not have enough experience to do so. This guy still has a chance to be interviewed, but this candidate is rarely hired.

4. You want this job and are able to do the job

These are the type of applicants that grab the attention of the hiring manager and successfully get called in for an interview. This clearly demonstrates that he understands the requirements of the position and the organization, he emphasizes the skills and competencies that make him the person who will be able to meet the challenges in the context of the company. Besides justifying the reasons that make him the ideal candidate, he is interested in the company and would sincerely like to join it. If you fall into this category, chances are you will be engaged!

Why is clarity important in your job search

Mr. Finkelstein runs an organization that helps people reach the next stage in their careers. It also helps employers think through and create a corporate culture that will retain potential and talented employees.

Clarity in your job search is essential. The uncertainty of what you want can put the jobs you are looking for beyond your reach. If you consider each of your qualities, you will have a better idea of the jobs you can hold, in a company in which you will be in your place.
