Electrotechnician

Our client, a manufacturing company recognized as a global leader in the production of technological materials and specialty chemicals, is currently seeking an Electrotechnician for their plant in the Montreal area.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, your role will be to perform maintenance tasks within the plant, focusing specifically on the electrical and electronic components of various production equipment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on automated systems, instrumentation, and control equipment.
  • Diagnose technical issues, respond to service calls, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve breakdowns promptly.
  • Assist mechanics in the event of major failures and provide necessary directives.
  • Participate in the improvement and installation of new equipment and machinery to optimize operations.
  • Calibrate, adjust, and fine-tune equipment to ensure optimal and consistent performance.
  • Analyze circuits, schematics, and drawings related to the installation, modification, maintenance, and troubleshooting of devices and systems.
  • Keep maintenance records, repair reports, and inventory of spare parts up to date.
  • Follow and promote safety guidelines while helping identify and report potential hazards.
  • Maintain the workplace and production equipment in a condition aligned with the plant’s operational standards.
  • Collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines and optimize production efficiency.

Required qualification

  • College diploma (DEC) in Industrial Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or vocational diploma (DEP) in Electromechanics of Automated Systems, or other relevant training.
  • Relevant experience in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), operator interfaces, starters, and instruments.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety (OHS) principles and techniques.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Agile and proactive in problem-solving.
  • A C license will be considered an asset.
