Building Automation Programmer

Our client, a global leader in technical services and energy efficiency, offers a wide range of solutions in engineering, installation, and maintenance. Currently, our client is seeking a Building Automation Programmer.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Programming Director, you will be responsible for the programming, commissioning, and graphic setup of control automation systems within our clients’ buildings. Your role will involve ensuring the integration of each automation system according to project requirements, overseeing each step from planning to final installation. In this capacity, your responsibilities will include:

  • Program digital control systems following predefined operation sequences set by the engineering department;
  • Configure digital controllers, including those in the "Reliable Controls" range or similar products;
  • Set up and address controllers (IP, MSTP, BACnet, Modbus, etc.);
  • Commission programmed electromechanical systems, either remotely or directly on-site in collaboration with various trades;
  • Provide post-commissioning follow-up and optimize systems by proposing improvements to operation sequences;
  • Develop graphic software in collaboration with the graphics department to enable optimal system use for the client;
  • Execute and supervise energy efficiency projects to maximize performance;
  • Integrate additional products as required to meet specific client needs;
  • Train clients and partners, providing technical support, including handling service calls and assistance;
  • Provide technical support to technicians responsible for on-site installations on construction sites;
  • Perform any other tasks relevant to your position.

Required qualification

  • Hold a DEC (Diploma of College Studies) or AEC (Attestation of Collegial Studies) in instrumentation and control, building mechanics, or a related field, or any experience deemed relevant;
  • Have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in building mechanics or control systems;
  • Possess a solid understanding of building mechanics and automated control systems;
  • Be able to read and interpret building plans;
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and be available for regional travel (approximately 20% of the time);
  • Demonstrate precision and strong attention to detail;
  • Experience in reading and/or understanding building automation control programming languages (e.g., Delta, Reliable, Siemens) is an asset;
  • Basic English reading and writing skills are an asset.
