Our client, a leading global manufacturer of technological materials and specialty chemicals, is currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for their headquarters in the Montreal area.
Nature of position
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the industrial maintenance team across various shifts, as well as managing external contractors for specific projects. You will play a key role in optimizing equipment performance by prioritizing preventive and corrective interventions while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Additionally, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing production costs and enhancing overall efficiency. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervise the industrial maintenance team across various shifts, as well as external contractors for specific work;
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during the implementation of standards and maintenance projects;
- Ensure and optimize equipment availability and performance by prioritizing preventive and corrective interventions;
- Ensure the functionality of safety-related equipment (detectors, alarms, access systems, etc.) and services (HVAC, water, energy, industrial gases, etc.);
- Perform technical analysis of recurring equipment failures and implement solutions;
- Maintain both the interior and exterior of the facility;
- Set up a spare parts inventory;
- Implement a supply, management, and control system for the spare parts inventory;
- Mentor the team on lockout procedures;
- Mentor and reinforce the company's health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, especially during the preparation and execution of interventions;
- Support the operations team by inspecting installations, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations;
- Identify and coordinate training needs;
- Draft procedures, reports, and other administrative documents;
- Lead continuous improvement activities to eliminate waste and reduce overall manufacturing costs;
- Perform any other related tasks.
Required qualification
- College diploma (DEC) in industrial maintenance or any other relevant training;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience;
- Knowledge of the metals sector or heavy industry (an asset);
- Familiarity with metallurgical equipment and processes (an asset);
- Demonstrated expertise in lockout/tagout procedures and a preventive approach to health and safety in the workplace;
- Experience in procurement and supplier management, including managing on-site subcontractors;
- Proficiency in the use of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), with knowledge of Intéral being an asset;
- Familiarity with ERP systems and general logistics;
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite;
- Strong command of both French and English, both spoken and written;
- Ability to influence colleagues to achieve collective goals;
- Approaches new challenges with energy, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of priorities.
