Technical Director (Electrical Connectivity Solutions)

Our client, a company specializing in the design and manufacturing of connectivity solutions (connectors, phase conductors, line hardware, etc.) and equipment for protection and safety (PPE, insulating gloves, voltage detectors, etc.) intended for North American electric power generation and distribution companies, is currently seeking a Technical Director.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the company's management, you will play a central and strategic role within the engineering and research laboratory team. As a leader, you will be responsible for developing and supervising the team, while leading innovative research and development projects. You will be a key player in defining and designing new products, ensuring their validation, certification, and adaptation to market requirements. In this capacity, you will be responsible for:

  • Guide the definition and design of new products through to validation testing.
  • Lead research and development projects as well as new technical and technological solutions.
  • Supervise product development to ensure timely delivery and certification.
  • Adapt products to market requirements with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Develop the expertise of the engineering team and laboratory by ensuring continuous training and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Support sales and opportunities through the development of innovative and competitive products.
  • Ensure liaison between different departments to guarantee smooth communication and effective project coordination.
  • Conduct technical and economic feasibility analyses for new projects and technologies.
  • Write detailed technical reports and analyses, and present research results to stakeholders.
  • Perform any other tasks compatible with your role.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Bilingual in French and English (proficiency in English is essential for this position to facilitate communication with a diverse range of business partners, both national and international).
  • Significant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in the field of electrical transmission lines and transmission substations from 69KV to 765KV (an asset).
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution (an asset).
  • Mastery of applicable standards in Canada and the United States (an asset).
  • Expertise in materials such as steel, aluminum, and copper (an asset).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for forged and cast parts (an asset).
  • Strong ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Recognized for your creativity and proactivity.
