Workshop Supervisor

Our client, a leader in its field specializing in the design, manufacturing, and installation of automated equipment for the manufacturing sector, is currently seeking a Workshop Supervisor.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for executing all tasks brought into the manufacturing workshop within the specified deadlines and budget, while maintaining the highest quality standards. You will also oversee the manufacturing capacity of the workshop and coordinate production planning and personnel allocation to ensure workshop operations efficiency. Additionally, you will provide leadership to mobilize your team towards achieving operational objectives. In this role, you will:

  • Manage all manufacturing operations, ensuring materials are efficiently fabricated and delivered within specified deadlines, according to customer specifications, and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Decide, in collaboration with management, what should be manufactured in-house and what should be outsourced while adhering to project budgets and considering workshop capacity.
  • Validate plans and requirements for all machined or assembled parts before sending them to subcontractors.
  • Validate documentation provided by the production planner (blueprints, work orders, bill of materials, etc.) to ensure readiness for fabrication workshop work before accepting any new jobs.
  • Ensure production orders are executed within scheduled hours.
  • Coordinate with the production planner to initiate any production orders.
  • Assign tasks to workshop staff and ensure high operational profitability.
  • Set priorities for all workshop employees.
  • Ensure broad integration of the SAP ERP system and ensure proper management of all production orders and tasks within the system.
  • Be responsible for quality control of all parts and equipment received from suppliers.
  • Resolve issues and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Ensure successful completion of quality acceptance tests and factory acceptance tests.
  • Support the engineering team in identifying any deviations from the initial scope and assist in quantifying changes.
  • Attend operational and project meetings to keep management informed of progress and forecasts.
  • Communicate any resource shortages.
  • Determine necessary manpower and estimate the quantity of raw materials required for production for any given customer order during the sales process.
  • Perform any other tasks compatible with your duties.

Required qualification

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing sector.
  • Management experience.
  • Proficiency in French and English (fluency in English is required for this position to communicate with international clients).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Results-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to read drawings (CAD, SolidWorks).
  • Experience with an ERP system will be considered an asset.
