Telecommunication Project Engineer

Our client, a company specialized in radiocommunications, operating several networks across Quebec and involved in leasing, sales, service, consulting, planning, engineering, design, and implementation of radiocommunication systems and networks. Currently seeking to strengthen its team to continue its growth and address several new challenges in Quebec, our client is currently looking for a Telecommunication Project Engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Technical Services Director, you will be responsible for planning, designing, supervising, operating, and managing the company's communication systems and networks. In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate, manage, and supervise system installations, conduct inspections, produce technical documentation, and establish schedules and budgets for projects;
  • Provide technical support to sales by conceptualizing specialized systems, conducting technical research, preparing documentation, and addressing technical aspects of bids;
  • Provide technical support to the system maintenance service personnel (supervise technicians and installers and provide them with necessary technical resources);
  • Offer consulting studies and technical studies to clients including technical advice, reports, drawings, radio coverage maps, calculations, system integration, operational needs analysis, and development and design of private radiocommunication systems;
  • Optimize digital and IP radio systems (implementation of coaxial network, microwave links, bidirectional amplifiers, and camera system and access card);
  • Supervise and lead the technical team;
  • Be responsible for the technical evaluation of new products and coordination of radio licenses with Industry Canada;
  • Ensure the integrity and deployment of the radiocommunication network;
  • Perform any other tasks compatible with your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or relevant field;
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in telecommunication networks;
  • Experience in the design and optimization of wireless networks;
  • Excellent proficiency in spoken and written French and English (fluency in English is required for this position as it involves managing phone calls and emails with international clients, ensuring effective customer service and prompt issue resolution);
  • Computer skills with the Microsoft Office suite (including Visio) and any other relevant software;
  • Mastery of wave propagation in free space in VHF, UHF, 800-900 MHz, 2-5 GHz bands and its modeling, as well as tools related to prediction calculation (an asset);
  • Knowledge of radio engineering rules (power balance, noise calculation), IP networks (router, switch, etc.), and WI-FI networks will be considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of equipment and equipment suppliers related to the operation, sizing, and configuration of radio systems (voice and data) as well as various conventional (P25, GSM, CDMA, TDMA, Nexedge, Mototrbo) and recent radio protocols will also be considered an asset;
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and passport.
