Our client, a company specializing in the design and manufacturing of traffic management systems aimed at improving the fluidity, safety and efficiency of road traffic, is currently looking for a project engineer .
Nature of position
Under the supervision of the R&D Director, you will play a leading role within the department and your technical expertise will be used at all stages of engineering. Among other things, you will be called upon to model mechanical products and systems, carry out structural calculations, procure the required materials and components and monitor manufacturing and its quality. As such you will see to:
- Ensure project management relating to existing products (planning, organization, schedule, budget, control, etc.) according to directives;
- Carry out the design, modeling and 3D development (CAD) of mechanical systems, structures and their components and ensure compliance with applicable standards;
- Carry out structural and mechanical component calculations;
- Develop test plans for mechanical systems and produce finite element reports;
- Participate in design review meetings as well as in resolving technical problems on existing products;
- Ensure monitoring of manufacturing and production quality;
- Ensure design modifications necessary for product optimization;
- Participate in the technical writing and progress of work concerning grant applications, in collaboration with the other departments involved;
- Support the R&D director in various research and development projects in order to advance concepts;
- Support the sales team in relation to marketed products, for example as part of the approval process in different territories;
- Support the production team, as needed, regarding product quality, compliance and viability;
- Procure the materials and components required in a development project, as well as participate in the manufacturing of tools if necessary;
- Participate in the optimization of the department and the standardization of processes.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
- Be a member of the Order of Engineers (OIQ);
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar or equivalent position (flexible);
- Knowledge of SolidWorks design software and mastery of the Office suite;
- Experience in the field of transportation, signaling, road safety and/or traffic management, a strong asset;
- Functional bilingualism in English and French;
- Versatility and ability to work in a multitasking environment;
- Strong sense of organization and responsibility.
